Key Takeaways

IB Solar to build 4 GW TOPCon solar cell factory in Uttar Pradesh with INR 30 billion investment

YEIDA allocates 25 acres near Noida International Airport, enabling a strategic location for the upcoming facility

The factory aligns with ALMM List-II rules that will become effective June 2026, boosting India’s domestic solar manufacturing capacity

Indian solar PV manufacturer and a lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery producer, Integrated Batteries India (IB Solar), will build a new TOPCon solar cell manufacturing factory with an annual production capacity of 4 GW in Uttar Pradesh.

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has issued a letter of intent (LOI) to allocate 25 acres in Sector 8 for IB Solar’s project.

Set to come up near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, the project is scheduled to be commissioned by 2027, following the country’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar cells, which comes into effect from June 1, 2026.

IB Solar estimates the factory to cost an estimated INR 30 billion ($340 million). It currently operates 700 MW of module production capacity. It aims to expand its manufacturing capacity to 5 GW for solar panels and 1 GW for solar cells.

Earlier in July 2025, YEIDA also green-signaled SAEL Industries’ INR 82 billion plan to establish a 5 GW TOPCon solar cell and 5 GW module facility, also in Sector 8 (see SAEL Industries Plans INR 82 Billion TOPCon Solar Factory).
